Oh, My Younger Days! 8 Things About Skincare We Wish We Knew Earlier.
Oh, My Younger Days! 8 Things About Skincare We Wish We Knew Earlier.
As we grow older, we all wish we could turn back time and do things differently, especially when it comes to our skin. Guess what? It's never too late to start taking care of your skin, and with the right knowledge, you can avoid making the same mistakes that many of us did in our younger days. These are the 8 things we wish we could tell our younger selves to absolutely avoid doing!
1
Using Makeup Removing Wipes (And Sleeping with Makeup On)
Makeup wipes may seem convenient, but they can actually be harmful to your skin. Most of these wipes contain alcohol and other harsh ingredients that can strip your skin's natural oils, leaving it dry and irritated. And of course, as we all know too well that sleeping with your makeup on can clog your pores and lead to breakouts. It's essential to use a gentle cleanser (or two!) to remove your makeup before going to bed.
2
Over-Exfoliating or Using Harsh Physical Exfoliators
Oh, don't get us wrong here. We do love a good (preferably chemical) exfoliator to remove those dead skin cells and black spots from our beautiful faces. But it's important to remember that over-exfoliating or using harsh physical exfoliators can damage your skin's protective barrier. We recommend using a gentle exfoliator and to limit exfoliation to once or twice a week.
3
Forgetting About Your Neck
Let's keep it simple - neck is as important as face! For some reason, neck is being neglected by many when it comes to skincare and it just makes us sad. The skin on our neck is thinner and more delicate than the skin on our face, making it more susceptible to aging. Trust us - neck ages way too fast without proper care. Make sure to include your neck in your skincare routine and maybe even use a moisturizer specifically formulated for the neck area.
4
Not Using SPF
We know, we know - it sounds obvious and all. Yet, some of us just can't stop touching and rubbing our faces even if it's unintentional. Touching your face too much can spread bacteria and irritate your skin, and we all realize how damaging the consequences of that can be, especially for acne-prone sensitive skin. And if you do want to touch your pretty face at times, just wash your hands before doing so.

Rubbing and Touching Your Face Too Much
We know, we know - it sounds obvious and all.
6
Ignoring the Ingredients List
It's easy to get caught up in the hype of new skincare products, but it's important to pay attention to the ingredients list. Avoid products with harsh chemicals or fragrances that can irritate your skin, and look for products with ingredients that are beneficial for your skin type. We bet you know the red flags to look for - check the packaging for sulfates, parabens, silicons and essential oils.
7
DIY Skincare
While DIY skincare may seem like a fun and cost-effective option, it can actually do more harm than good. Many DIY skincare recipes contain ingredients that can be harmful to your skin or can lead to allergic reactions. We all remember those viral videos with strawberry-avocado-lemon-honey masks and it honestly gives us chills as there are so many things that can break you out instantly. Stick to tried and tested skincare products that are formulated by professionals.
8
Being Inconsistent with Skincare
Consistency is key when it comes to skincare. It's important to establish a skincare routine and stick to it. Skipping your skincare routine can lead to clogged pores and breakouts, while consistent use of skincare products can lead to healthier, more radiant skin. Not gonna lie, it's so tempting to try out all these hyped and trendy products at once, but it might damage your skin barrier or even break you out, so don't "overdo" the skincare routine.
